My First year at Tempertons Estate Agents
I have now been working for Tempertons for just over a year, I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know the team and settling into the wonderful office dynamic. I feel have become a valued member of the team, that I have learned a great deal and that I have shared the knowledge I have gained both from previous employment and from my studies. Coming from a background in Customer Services, I think I have brought new ideas and practices with me, and feed back from clients and customers has been very positive.
A year of great change
When starting with the company the market was very buoyant, with many properties going to best and final offers and selling in excess of the asking price, with much of this due to the pandemic and stamp duty holiday. We have now seen a change with interest rates, political instability, the current cost of living crisis and the continuing war in the Ukraine all contributing to a shift in market conditions. Although houses are still selling, the market is much more steady than it was a year ago, and it has become a buyer’s market rather than a seller’s market.
Professional qualifications
I have recently started my Level 3 qualification in Residential Sales and am pleased to say that I have passed my first exam in Practice Relating to Residential Sales. I have another three exams to take, in Law Relating to Residential Sales, General Law and Building Defects and Property Appraisal before I achieve the award. I aim to complete the qualification within the next 18 months.
Career development
The past few weeks I have been working alongside Nicholas Hughes (surveyor and partner in the firm), shadowing him when conducting property valuations and market appraisals as this is something I hope to be doing confidently on my own towards the end of the year. I have also been more involved in taking photographs and drafting the text for property particulars, as this will allow me to be involved with a property from initial contact with the seller through to production of sales brochures and marketing.
I am very much looking forward to my future with the company.
